The
Handicapped Gay People Association (Asociación de Discapacitados gay) was
founded in Mataró city (Spain) the 24th. of march 2006.
The project started as a simple webpage
with a clear objective: find out, contact, exchange information and
keep a dialog with
other gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexuals physical and sensorial
disabled people and try to exchange information about the sexuality
and disability of these groups.
The
information that was available regarding this area was very hard to
find out, until we reach the target. very little was spoken before;
as fear, shame, ignorance and the usual prejudice that the society
in general has about this kind of things.
During the first month of life, our website have receive about 4,000
visits, reaching 20,000 on the second month. it was there when we
realize the magnitude of people searching for information and help,
so we decided to found the association and be able to give a hand
and help all this people and find out an answer to their needs and
social rejection, and that we could work together to educate the
society about our needs, tastes and rights. As you may don't know
disabled gays suffer from double discrimination, for being disabled
and secondly for being gay.
We
have members from almost every part of the world, but mainly from
Spain, Catalunya, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, united states, Mexico,
Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay & Venezuela, as well as lot of European
countries like Italy, United Kingdom, France & Norway.
Through the time we have been increasing the information with
special reports about sexuality and disability, rehab, technological
advances, medical and psychological guidance and contention. we also
offer a guide of adapted gay places (discos, pubs, etc), news,
exclusive interviews, e-books written by our members about the
global vision from the point of view of a handicapped gay person,
videos to download, audio streams, picture gallery, an opinion
column, as well as links and much more...
We
also have the section " X-press yourself " this is a special
area where people can say what they want, publish and opinion,
contact others, tell a story, make complains about transportation or
anything they may want to say and of course the chat room.
Last year we
created the Disability & Sexuality Dep. This department take
care about the disabled people and their sexual issues,
develop techniques and studies each case to see how to help
that person develop it's sexual life as normal as possible.
It also gives conferences and do dynamic groups of people to
develop techniques. Now in general disability and sexuality
can no longer be associated or blamed.
At
the moment we are receiving some subsidies, donations and members
payments, but to make this association to run smoothly is a very difficult and
hard job. but as we like challenges and love what we do, the effort
worth the trouble.
As
of today we don't know the existence any other handicapped gay (LGTB)
association within spain or worldwide, so at the moment we are the
referents in the subject, and as in certain way we are happy, on the
other hand it give us a lot of responsibility as the thematic is
very complex and sensible to speak about.

Some time ago we started to
search the internet looking for information regarding handicapped gays and we
just find out only one answer: nothing at all.
That's why we decided to take the
initiative in our hands and created a website dedicated to all handicapped gays
(LGTB) around the world who feel the way as we do.
On this website you will find news, information, adapted gay locations to our
needs, you can make contacts with other guys, find useful links, videos,
pictures, guy's stories, adapted gay bars & discos, gay associations, gay
groups, etc. You also have the possibility to get registered and enter "The

This website is very important to
all of us, as the handicapped thematic is very difficult to speak about and more if
you are gay, we will treat it the more professional way we can, with
respect and consideration for all over the things. It's our illusion to be able
to create this site with love, dedication and comprehension for all of us.
That's why we would like to ask you to help us building this website and make it
and exclusive and original place were we can speak the same way.
